Photoshop
In Spring, 2010 I took CAST 95 - Intoduction to Adobe Photoshop. I didn't actually realize when I started the class, that I didn't have Photoshop, what I was using was Photoshop 7, which had come loaded on my machine, so I downloaded a trial copy of Photoshop 5 and used that for the first half of the class. Unfortunately the class lasted much longer than the s/w trial and as my expiration date approached, so began a phase of my life I like to think of as Deirdre:1, Adobe:0. Basically I scammed an extension of my 30 day trial by leaving the program running on the last day before it expired and NEVER restarting the computer. Eventually my laptop overheated and I had to finish the class using my trusty Photoshop7. (So bear in mind that I didn't have my magic wand tool when I selected each and every dewdrop on that huge spider web).

The only reason I signed up for the class at all was (narcissist that I am) because I wanted to learn how to airbrush photots of myself. This I was able to do it for my final project,Phobias
I removed the little imperfections which time is bestowing on my once-fresh visage, corrected my ruddy Irish hue and then pasted the result onto the face of John Everett Millais' Little Miss Muffett. Again, given the limitations of Photoshop 7 (no healing brush!!!), I think I did an OK job.
With a lot of help from Hugh Nagle, I created French and English versions of a poster to advertise a bric-à-brac which I was organizing. (It raised over 1,100 CHF for the charity Solidarité Femmes).
Since I got my new laptop I've been using GIMP and Paint to edit images and photos.
