What does Gis a Job mean?
Gis a job (or more correctly Gizza Job or Gi's a job) was a catchphrase of the character Yosser Hughes, from the British television drama. Boys from the Blackstuff (1982). "Gizza Job" became part of the popular consciousness of the Eighties, summing up the mood of many who sought desperately for work during the era. Yosser (played by Bernard Hill - also Théoden, King of Rohan in LOTR), is described by Wikipedia as "a man driven to the edge of his sanity by the loss of his job, his wife, the authorities' continued attempts to take his children away from him and his constant attempts at salvaging his male pride".
Well, I know just how he feels, as I myself am currently at the edge of my sanity and am also seeking gainful employment. After a six-month eleven-year twelve-year hiatus from "work outside the home", I'm ready. Nay, hungry even.
What would you like potential employers to know about you?
I don't have a Facebook account as it has always seemed to be like one giagantic blackhole-sized suck of time. Therefore I will not spend my days at work looking up ex-boyfriends and rejoicing when I see they have gone bald.
What would you like ex-boyfriends to know about you?
They were right- It's not me…it's them.
Getting back to the job stuff - What can you do?
What would you like me to do?
Are you really a genius?
Yes.
